I’m starting a new series on my blog called ‘Exploring the Emirates’, to show the different things I get up to and the places I explore whilst I’m out living in the United Arab Emirates. I kicked off this new series with a travel diary style post about our day trip to Abu Dhabi. Click here to be redirected so you can go give it a read. Here’s the second post in the series…
On our way to Abu Dhabi for our day trip, we made a slight detour to the Last Exit. The Last Exit is a pit-stop drive-thru, just off the E11. Ok, so you’re probably thinking of your usual fast-food drive-thru and confused as to why I’m so excited over this, but the Last Exit is pretty cool. The Last Exit has an array of different Americana style trucks selling lots of different foods: burgers, seafood, coffee, juices and more. Each truck is super unique, and the design fitting perfectly with the brand.
We went in the morning so not every truck was open, but we had an early lunch of poutine (what other time than when I’m with my Canadian gal), and burgers. They were so delicious. You can opt to either dine-in like we did, or pay and go with your food. The Last Exit is a nice place to stop and grab some food, but also to wander around and look at all the trucks. It’s super quirky, and there are some great photo opportunities too.
One thing to point out is that there are two sides to the Last Exit; one which is the DXB side (which we stopped at) and the other being AUH side. The AUH side, has a cool post-apocalyptic theme. We didn’t realise this until we were leaving and was confused as to why it was on the other side of the road too. Although this doesn’t surprise me, it is the UAE. Apparently, the DXB side is the quieter side, but we still enjoyed a good walk around and there were still so many food trucks to choose from.
