Day Out: Animal Fun at Beetle-Bank Farm

Last week, Adam took me for a surprise day out to Beetle-Bank Farm. Despite the farm being located only 15 minutes from my house, I’d never heard of it. It is located in Murton, just on the outskirts of York.

This is open-farm that is open to the public all year round, and every day except Tuesdays. Opening times are as followed;

  • 1st April – 31st October – 9.30am/10.00am to 5.00pm
  • 1st Nov – 31st March – 9.30am/10.00am to 4.00pm

Admission to the park is £6 per person, and under 2s go free.

We got to the farm around 11am, gained admission, then headed straight for the barn and for the goats. My fallback career is a goat farm, because I absolutely blooming adore them! They had so many, and babies too! Also in the barn were the rabbits, guinea pigs, and pigs…with piglets *heart aches* whom were about two weeks old.

We then headed to the fields where there are MORE goats (dreams do come true), horses, llamas, alpacas, and sheep. We paid 50p each for bags of feed, so we could feed the animals, which just makes the experience even more fun. As you can see by the photos, they were clearly happy to see us too!

There is also a bird sanctuary, with an array of different breeds.

There is also a cafe on site, with freshly cooked food, hot and cold sandwiches, cakes, and plenty of drinks. We opted for a hot chocolate each, which came with all the trimmings. They were delcicious, and was a lovely little break during the day.

There is also a play-park, with swings and a climbing frame, and a two bouncy castles! Being the big kids we are, as soon as all the kids left we were on the swings, climbing up the wooden climbing frame, and racing each other across the inflatable course…yes we are big kids!. We are so overly competitive, but of course I remained triumphant and beat Adam!

The staff at the farm were so lovely, and were there to show you the animals and answer any questions you may have.

Overall, it’s a great little farm, and a lovely day out for all the family. I’m missing the little goats far too much already, I think I may be in need of another visit before the end of the year!
