What’s in my Uni Bag – Third Year

I am going into my third year at the University of York, and I am trying to get my personal and academic life a lot more organised, including my bag. I carry a fair few things around with me in my bag, so I though I’d share them with you.

The bag I use for university is my new Lagoon Blue Fjallraven Re-Kanken. I’ve used a Kanken for 4 years now, and I couldn’t live without one. I previously had a black one and despite it now being a little tatty it has served me well. I remembering buying it and being unsure whether it was really worth the higher price tag (..not helped by mum’s disapproval at the time!), but it goes everywhere with me; abroad, uni, work, city breaks, and it was worth every penny. It also surprised me with how strong it is for what seems like thin, cheap material…especiallly for carrying the tonne of stuff I carry out and about and to uni. This is why I had to get a new one, but this time one that’s a much brighter colour! My grandparents got my this one for my 21st.

Obviously on different days, depending on what lectures or seminars I have, I carry different things but these are the items I carry with me on a daily basis.

First in my bag is my diary. I was bought this one by Adam’s parents for my birthday, and it’s personalised with my initials. It matches my Kanken, everyone loves a coordination queen right!? I am loving this diary, and it’s the only thing keep me sane and semi-organised right now. I loved my diary last year, but it was a little too thick and took up so much room in my bag, so this one is great as it still has everything I need in it, but it is so much thinner. It includes sections like: my important dates, make it happen – where you can list your current projects and helps you work through the tasks into order to complete them, celebrations list, gift ideas, my books, and my go-to pages.

Back in January I purchased my first Macbook, and this has honestly made me so much more productive and organised, I don’t think I could live without it now. I take this to uni to write notes in lectures and do readings on as they are all electronic. Also, I enviously take my charger with me too, in case it runs out of battery.

Another electronic accessory I carry is my portable charger. I commute to uni, and sometimes the days can be long, so this is a life-saver. Adam bought me a purple Juice Power Bank one for me before I started uni, and it is amazing. It fully charges me phone around five times, so is great as I’m a bugger for forgetting to charge it up after I have used it.

As I’m in my final year at university, I have my dissertation this year. I have a ‘dissertation notebook‘, which I write all notes in and ideas related to my dissertation. I carry this on me all the time, in case something pops into my head throughout the day which I think would be beneficial for my dissertation.

I also carry a little pencil-case with pens and highlighters. I picked up the pastel Stabilo highlights from Rymans whilst I was in Chester, and I bloomin’ love them.

Other essential things I carry in my bag are my car and house keys, a bottle of water, and my purse. I’ve just got a new purse, which has been great for storing all my loyalty cards and money compactly (this is the link to it).

In the pocket at front of my bag, I have my sunglasses for when I’m driving and the sun is low, a mini hairbrush, mints and earphones.

Like most people I have a ‘girly-bits’ pouch, I have no idea what to else call this except my random hand-bag necessities sort of pouch!? This beautiful little personalised makeup bag, that was bought by work for my birthday. It holds quite a few items including; hand sanitizer, hand-cream, lip-balm, painkillers, anxiety meds, period essentials, hair-bobbles and grips, inhaler, spare contacts, wipes, and tissues.

What do you carry in your uni bag?

This is such a good blogpost idea, mind if I take it myself ? Your bag is adorable and I love how organised you are about your dissertations and keeping an academic diary I also have one but barely have much to write in my first year….

Yeah definitely! I can’t wait to see your post. I may look organised but I wish I was right now, I’m currently drowning in uni work and it’s only week 4…I’ll get there eventually though! I didn’t write anything really in my first year so I wouldn’t worry too much about that! Hope your enjoying your year so far!

Thank you! My mum thinks it’s a little garish but I’m loving the pop of colour!

I used to carry a reusable shopping bag until I got my car, which is full of them. That’s a fab recommendation though!

I feel like I’m winning a little with the coordination! Same, the closer to the end of term it gets, the more rubbish and unnecessary items end up in my bag
