I have always suffered from oily, acne-prone skin, and have tried so many different products over the years; some of which have helped, where others have made it 100 times worse. I have been using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo for a fair few years now and love it for settling down any breakouts…I did a full blog post on this product last year, click here to have a read. However, my skin over the past few months, before I went on holiday was horrendous and getting worse. So, I wanted to try their 3 step treatment to see if it could help. Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on, so it was cheaper for me to buy the products individually rather than the 3 step treatment boxed set. In total I paid around £24.50 for the Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel, Astringent Lotion and Duo (+) SPF 30.
Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel (for oily sensitive skin) –
I rub this in circular motions onto my skin and it foams up really well and takes off every trace of makeup or oil. This is so gentle on my skin, causing no irritation and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh once rinsed off. Not only has it helped reduce active breakouts, but it also aids in reducing enlarged pores. The bottle also lasts for ages; I’ve been using this morning and night every day for well over two months and I’ve barely used a 1/3 of the bottle!
Effaclar Clarifying Astringent Lotion –
This product removes any excess oil, unblocks and reduces pores and is an anti-blackhead solution. I have noticed a huge reduction in pore size around my t-zone area after using this product. Although sometimes this lotion tingles my sensitive skin, it has never irritated it or caused a breakout. It leaves my skin feeling soft and freshened.
Effaclar Duo (+) SPF 30 –
I’ve always rated this product, and still do. It is a non-sticky formula, and sinks and absorbs straight into the skin, leaving it feeling moisturised without feeling overly tacky. It visibly reduces redness, spot size, and any other imperfections and impurities like blackheads. This product also contains SPF 30, to protect delicate skin from UV rays and prevent the appearance of hyper-pigmentation
Effaclar Duo+ Unifiant Moisturiser –
I also use the Effaclar Duo+ Unifiant Moisturiser, which works the same as the original product but has an additional sheer formula for a subtle tint to create a natural, even complexion. This is great for minimal/no make-up days. If you want to see my full opinion on this product be sure to check out my previous blog post by clicking here to be redirected.
These products have reduced my acne and cleared my skin up so much. Prior to using this product, it was only a dream to be able to leave the house without any make-up on, even if I was just popping to the shop, but it has improved my skin so much that I have days where I am foundation free and so much more confident in my skin.
I still have a fair bit of scarring remaining from my acne and like anyone I still have the occasional mini-breakout, but the scarring is slowly fading and this three-step routine is doing my skin wonders too. I cannot recommend this product enough though for anyone who has similar skincare issues to myself.
