Winter Skincare Routine | Blogmas

My skin has been everywhere this winter. I have oily skin, which I already find difficult to manage, but the cold weather has caused some sore dry patches too, as well as hormonal breakout, so you can imagine me and my skin are not getting along right now. I enjoy changing up my skincare, and love trying new products, but these are the products I am currently using this winter season. The products I use on the day, completely depends on how my skin is feeling, and the products I think it needs at the time, so I do not use all these products every single day.

I know this is controversial, and I never used to use them myself, but to initially remove any heavy make-up I’ve been using the Nivea 3-in-1 Gentle Cleansing Wipes, especially for removing any eye make-up.

For cleansing and washing, I love The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and the Soap and Glory 2-in-1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash. They both melt away any left over makeup, dirt and impurities from my skin, and leave it feeling clean and refreshed. I’ve previously reviewed the Soap and Glory Facial Wash in my Product Empties post, alongside many other products, where I decided if I would personally repurchase them or not, and my general opinions on them.

Next up, is a product I’ve had stored for a while, but never really used up until now. The L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Velvety-Soft Toner, helps remove any left other cleanser residue or impurities, and leaves the skin feeling tone and smooth. I have never been one to use a toner in my skincare routine, but with the cold weather and my skin feeling dry and sore, I thought I’d try out this product, especially as it is great for sensitive skin.

For moisturisers, on a morning I have been using the Clinique Smart SPF 15 Custom Repair Moisturiser, which is a thick creamy consistency, so great for these winter months. It soaks into my skin quickly, without being tacky or irritating my skin. It’s also oil-free, which is great for my skin type. Then on an evening, I have been using The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Night Cream. This gives my skin the moisture boost it needs overnight, whilst soothing the areas where is it sore and irritable. It is smooth gel-like consistency, and glides onto the skin.

Lastly, for skin-treatment, in particular targeting spots/ache, I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution and/or the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (+) SPF30. They both work at reducing the area and inflammation of my spots, to aid in clearing up my breakouts. I tend to use the Daily Solution, when my skin is especially dry and more on an evening, whereas I like to use the Effaclar Duo on a morning to treat my skin before I apply make-up, plus it acts as an amazing base to apply your foundation on top of. I did a full review of the Efflaclar Duo, earlier this year, be sure to check it out here!

I almost forgot, about the Origins Ginger Hand Lotion, that I have absolutely been loving this winter. I was given this in a goodie bag at a recent event I attended at Origins York, and I have been using it every single day since. It’s made my dry hands so much softer and smoother, and it sinks into the skin so quickly. Even better, it the ginger scent is so festive, and is a great handbag essential.

I have also asked for some new skincare bits for Christmas, so I’m excited to be able to try even more new products!

What is your go to skincare product? and what spot treatments do you recommend?
