On the 14th July, Adam took me for a surprise trip to The Forbidden Corner. I may have guessed where we were going, because I’ve been desperate to go for ages. But, it was still a lovely surprise, and I was so excited! It’s only a short drive from where we live in York, yet we’d never been before.
‘The Strangest Place in the World’
The attraction is in Leyburn, in North Yorkshire. It is described as ‘The Strangest Place in the World’, and it truly meets this description! I don’t want to say too much, because the place is full of surprises. But, you are given a ‘picture map’ of all the different ‘strange things’ to find, and then you are free to venture around the attraction in search of them all.
Instead of it being a linear track to follow around the place, you have to search around to tick off the places on the map. Obviously, you have to have a little patience for this. Be prepared to see things more than once. But, it makes it into a puzzle, and adds to the day out. (Oh, p.s look in the picnic garden – don’t walk around for an extra hour to trying to find the remaining figures!).
Admission is £12 for adults (and £10 for children), which is great value for money. They have a ‘pre-booking’ system, which prevents overcrowding, so the park isn’t too full nor crowds of people as you walk around. They also have a cafe and gift shop onsite, full of little gifts to remember your day.
Forbidden Corner is a magical and unique experience for any age group, and I’ll definitely be visiting again in the future! Click here to be directed to their website for further information.
